The annual fall commitment time is here and this past week already saw a few come off the board including soaring big man 2020 C Ryan Kalkbrenner who verbally committed to Creighton.  Here’s a quick look at that and more in our news and notes for this past week…

D1 COMMITMENTS
2020 C Ryan Kalkbrenner of Trinity Catholic (MO) verbally committed to Creighton.  He played with the Mac Irvin Fire this past spring and summer.

2020 F Bennett Kwiecinski of Loyola Academy (IL) gave a verbal pledge to Siena.  He competed with the Illinois Wolves during the grassroots travel season.

Staying with a connection to the state of Illinois was Duke as the Blue Devils secured a verbal pledge from 2020 PG D.J. Steward of Whitney Young (IL).  Steward played with the Meanstreets program during the grassroots travel season.

North Carolina struck big on the trail with a verbal commitment from 2020 C Walker Kessler of Woodward Academy (GA).  He played with the Game Elite program this past spring and summer.

2020 PF Coleman Hawkins is off the board and headed to Illinois.  The Prolific Prep (CA) standout played with the Dream Vision program during the grassroots travel season.

Butler struck on the in-state trail by securing a verbal pledge from 2020 G Jayden Taylor of Perry Meridian (IN) last week.  He played with the UA G3 Grind program.

Notre Dame also struck on the trail last week as Coach Brey secured a verbal commitment from 2020 PF Elijah Taylor of the Imhotep Institute (PA).  He played with Team Final during the travel season.

Colorado struck on the in-state trail as the Buffaloes secured a verbal pledge from fast rising 2020 SG Dominique Clifford of The Vanguard School (CO).  

Wisconsin struck twice on the trail last week.  2020 F/C Steven Crowl of Eastview Senior HS (MN) gave a verbal pledge to the Badgers.  The next day it was 2020 F Ben Carlson of East Ridge (MN) who popped for Wisconsin.  Both played for the D1 Minnesota program during the grassroots travel season.

2020 G Nate Shockey offered up a verbal pledge to North Dakota last week.  The York (IL) standout played with the Breakaway Basketball program during the grassroots travel season. CLICK HERE to see his comments.  

The Ohio State University struck again on the trail last week as 2020 PF Zed Key of Long Island Lutheran (NY) gave a verbal pledge to the Buckeyes.  He played with the NY Jayhawks during the grassroots travel season.

OTHER COMMITMENTS
2020 F Jack Weber of El-Paso Gridley (IL) verbally committed to D2 Illinois-Springfield.  He played with the Illinois Irish during the grassroots travel season.

PROSPECTS BUZZING
2021 G Ben Nau of Brookfield Central (WI) took an unofficial visit to Wisconsin this past weekend.  Butler, UW-Milwaukee, and Miami (OH) have been in to see the junior standout who currently holds offers from Miami (OH), Indiana State, Depaul, UW-Milwaukee, and UW-Green Bay.  

2020 F Jaemyn Brakefield of Huntington Prep (WV) has set some additional official visits.  He will go to Louisville September 27-29th, Michigan October 3-6th, and Mississippi October 17-20th.  He already took an official visit to Auburn earlier this month.

2020 G Gavyn Elkamil of Pittsburgh (KS) continues to trend upward.  Kansas State, South Dakota State, Utah State, Wichita State, Northeastern, Appalachian State, Southern Illinois, and South Carolina State have shown interest this month.  He currently holds offers from Southern Mississippi, Southeast Missouri State, and UMKC.  CLICK HERE to see more.  

2021 G Anton Brookshire of Kickapoo (MO) is another guard that’s trending upward.  Missouri, Iowa State, Missouri State, etc. have been in to watch him this fall.  He currently holds offers from Missouri State, Tennessee State, and UW-Milwaukee.

2020 F Martice Mitchell of Bloom (IL) took an official visit to Xavier last week.  In addition to Xavier he holds a large number of offers from Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado State, George Mason, Illinois State, Missouri State, etc. among others.  

2020 G Gerald Gittens of St. Johns NW Military Academy (WI) is a late blooming prospect starting to get some looks.  Buffalo, Lipscomb, Abilene Christian, UW-Milwaukee, Monmouth, IUPUI, Nebraska-Omaha, and UC-Santa Barbara have shown interest in the young and talented guard from New York.  CLICK HERE to see more.  

UPCOMING PLATFORMS
The NY2LA Sports Futures Camp will return on October 26, 2019 and it’s open to 2021-2023 boys prospects.  For the past decade the NY2LA Sports Futures Camp has been one of the premiere fall platforms in the country both regionally and nationally.  This year’s camp will be held at Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin.  For more information CLICK HERE

The NY2LA Sports Generation Next Tip-Off for boys 5th-8th grade teams will tip November 16-17, 2019 in Wisconsin.  Annually one of the top late fall early winter middle school tournaments, it is once again expected to have some of the top teams in the Midwest competing at this time.  For more information CLICK HERE.
