An East Tennessee State commit no more. On Tuesday Aquan Smart announced via twitter that he was de-committing from East Tennessee State University. Smart is a 6’3” point guard at Niles North High School (IL) and played with the Pure Prep program. He now becomes one of the top available guards in Midwest for the 2020 class.

In a lengthy twitter post, Smart stated “First I would like to thank god first and foremost for putting in the position I am today. With that being me, my parents and my coaches have talked and I have decided to reopen my recruitment and decommitt for ETSU. Thank you so much to the coaches.”

Smart initially picked up his offer from East Tennessee State back in July and then later made his commitment there in September. Before making his pick, he had also received scholarship offers from Chicago State, FIU, Illinois State, Southeast Missouri State, UAB, UIC, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Don’t be surprised though if he now picks up some high major offers.

So far, this season Smart is on a roll at Niles North. Having already having put up point totals of 38, 34, and 30. He is an electric playmaking point guard with explosive athleticism. He is incredibly tough to defend off the dribble and is able to penetrate defenses with ease. As well he has great passing ability and can be a tough defender on the perimeter. His perimeter jumper has continued to improve and he is starting to be more and more of a threat from the outside.
