The corner of the state in Northwest Indiana, better known as “The Region”, is the current home of the state’s leading scorer.  Keon Thompson (Merrillville HS) is putting up PlayStation type of numbers with a mind-boggling 32.2ppg to go along with 8.7rpg (as a guard).  Some players with these type of stats get them by large-volume shot selection not this kid he’s shooting 56% from the field.

The 6’1” guard has skill-sets that are off the chart ball handling, defending, mid and long-range jumpers, breaking-ankles off the dribble and is truly one of the quickest players I’ve seen in quite some time.  This all adds-up to a leather combination and makes Keon Thompson one of the best overall players in the state of Indiana.  Keon currently has offers from Valparaiso, New Orleans and Miami (OH) with interest from many other D1’s.

Merrillville head coach Bo Patton states, “Keon is one of the best player’s I’ve ever coached”. “Keon Thompson has proven he belongs in the conversations with the best juniors in Indiana.  His game is in attack mode at all times.  He’s always looking to make a play, score or get his teammates up”.  Each season this young man has progressed his game including as a result of becoming stronger and having an unbelievable work-ethic.  As a sophomore, Keon finished 4th on the school’s all-time list for point’s in a season and was selected all-region and picked up IBCA District 1 player of the week honors.  My educated-guess tells me the high-major offers will be rolling in this summer as I expect huge production game after game.
