One senior in Central Illinois who is currently having a highly impressive senior year is Connor Heaton of Central A&M High School. The 6’5” guard is averaging 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals per game so far to have led Central A&M to an 18-2 record on the year.

After playing with the Illinois Irish program last summer, Heaton earned himself scholarship offers from both Culver-Stockton College and Quincy University in August. In addition, he has strong interest from Augustana College, Illinois College, Illinois Wesleyan University, as well to several others. “I like all of my options as they are all good programs and schools,” he responded when talking about the current schools looking at him.

Heaton plans on taking visits to both Illinois Wesleyan and Quincy shortly in the next two weeks. When talking about any timeline on a commitment date, he stated the he is looking towards the spring to make his college pick.

“First, I’m looking for a great fit in a great program,” Heaton mentioned on what he wants in his future college. As well, the senior mentioned “with a coach and teammates that will push me to my limits.”

Heaton was already able to accomplish a pair of major milestone this season. Earlier in January in a game versus Teutopolis, he was able to score his 2,000 point. Shortly after that impressive feat, Heaton followed it up breaking his high school’s all-time scoring record when he topped 2,039 points. However, the guard is looking at some loftier team goals to finish his high school career. “Win a state championship,” he responded with for goals on the year. Given the success on the season to date and advancing all the way to the 1A Illinois state semifinals last season, that goal seems well within reach.
