Class of 2022 prospects continue to come off the board and Monday was no exception with a couple of commitments including, but not limited to, senior forward Noah Fedderson of Menomonie (WI) who verbally committed to North Dakota State.
A plus length 6-9 forward with a near 225 pound frame, Fedderson quietly developed year in and year out and the late blooming prospects from Wisconsin caught the attention of the Bison with his solid play over the past year and on Monday Fedderson knew where he wanted to be and he made the call. “From the time I had with them I found that their coaches are all really great guys that care about their players and also push them every single day to improve themselves,” Fedderson said, adding “Another reason I chose NDSU is the opportunity to play at the highest level. Going to the NCAA Tournament doesn’t come easy and I’m extremely excited to face this challenge and put in the work and be a part of a team that has the opportunity to do that.”
Fedderson’s best basketball lies in front of him but he’s got a lot of clay to mold into a good one at the next level. He can play with efficiency and effectiveness with his back to the basket, he sees the floor well making for a solid passing big man, and he has the ability to stretch the floor and face up to knock down the trey ball. Add to the mix solid physical attributes, an ability to run the floor, and nice bounce for a developing big and it’s easy to see why NDSU liked what they saw and for Fedderson the location and culture was huge to him. “Location was definitely a factor, playing college basketball has always been a dream of mine and being relatively close to my family and them being able to drive over to watch me play means a lot to me. Having a winning culture is also a factor that was important to me and NDSU definitely has this in their success of conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in the last decade.”
Fedderson had a strong spring and summer travel season and he was an Honorable Mention All-League selection for the 17U NY2LA Basketball Association this summer following up a 2nd team All-Conference Selection during the High School season. Fedderson is just getting started and the talented forward knows where he needs to improve, “I think the biggest thing I need to work on for the next level is my outside shot. In today’s game having a consistent three point shot is very important in impacting how the defense guards you and it helps create more opportunities for myself and my teammates, Fedderson indicated adding. “Also working hard to get bigger faster, and stronger to prepare for the physicality of college basketball.”
One of the late blooming stories in the 2022 class, Fedderson is trending up and he looks primed to take another step with a big senior year before heading to NDSU where he’s excited to get started. “I’m just really couldn’t be more excited to be a Bison and having this great opportunity.”
