With all the talent on this year’s NY2LA Association at the 17U level, two teams were just enough. The great talent of the players below forced an addition team. 

Mekhi Cooper – 2023 – PG – Flight Athletics 

Cooper was one of the biggest breakout stars of the entire Midwest over the past few months. The point guard proved to be one of the top scorers on the entire association and pulled in a long list of division one offers. With his scoring ability, Cooper was dominant at times taking over game for his team. Following the grassroots season, Cooper committed to Miami (OH). 

Brayden Fagbemi – 2023 – PG – Illinois Attack

Whether it was the Grassroots Invitational in Louisville or Best of the South in Atlanta, Fagbemi proved to be one of the top point guards on the entire association. Not only one of the top distributors, but Fagbemi can also score it himself effectively. With all of his abilities he was taking games over at points, especially in Atlanta where he led his Attack squad to the final four of the Best of the South. 

Brandon Ivery – 2023 – G/F – All Ohio Select

One of the most impactful wings on the association with all he can do on the floor. A key piece of this All Ohio Select that continued to improve all season including a run to the final four of the NY2LA Championships to end the season. Not just one of the top defenders on the association, Ivery is a true stat stuffing wing. 

Arhman Lewis – 2023 – PG – Movement Hoops

One of the top playmaking point guards on the association that is incredibly dynamic with the ball in his hands. Lewis was the floor general behind this Movement Hoop’s squad that had a big spring and summer with many impressive victories. Following the spring season Augustana University offered him and he committed there in July.

Jaxon Olvera – 2023 – G – Team Temple

Along with Corey Hadnot, Olvera formed a dynamic duo for Team Temple. Olvera was key for them all season including a big reason why they were able to make it all the way to the final four of the NY2LA Championships. Not only one of the top shooters on the association, Olvera is also a well-rounded scorer to put up big numbers all season. 

Robert Peters – 2023 – PF – 24Up

A consistent performer who developed into one of the top big men this year on the association. At 6’8” with his toughness, he proved to be a factor inside early on this season but greatly developed his perimeter skills over the course of the spring and summer. With all his abilities and what he did for his 24Up team, Peters earned his way onto this third team.  

Preston Roberts – 2023 – SF – Kyle Guy Elite

Roberts was one of a few key pieces from this talented Kyle Guy Elite team that had a very strong spring and summer. He proved to be one of the more versatile and impactful players throughout the season with his all-around abilities. Game after game he scored it well in a variety of ways but also got it done with his defensive play and facilitating.
