Recruits from the 2023 class are making their commitments at a record pace. The most recent commitment was Gavyn Hurley of Middleton High School and the Wisconsin Swing. The 6’5” guard announced his commitment to Winona State on Tuesday.

The commitment for Hurley comes after Winona State initially offered him back in May. Other programs to have offered him a scholarship included Minnesota Duluth, Quincy, and Upper Iowa. “The location is perfect, and the coaching staff made me a priority from the very beginning,” Hurley said as why he picked the Warriors over his other suitors.

“I knew I was going to go there on the visit,” he said referring to his trip to the Winona, Minnesota campus in the spring. “I knew this would be the best fit for me.”

While he still has his senior year before he moves on to Winona State, he likes his future there on the hardwood. “I see myself fitting perfectly with Winona State because of how I can use ball screens and they tend to roll plenty of pick and roll stuff.”

Hurley marks the first commitment from this 17U Wisconsin Swing team. Other players on the roster include Marcus Hall, who has multiple division one and two offers, as well as Matt Schmainda, Max Lucey, among others who all have a great deal of college interest.
