Nolan Minessale was one of the breakout players of the grassroots season in Wisconsin’s 2024 class. The 6’5 wing had some big time performances for a Chapman Academy 16U team that was one of the best in the Midwest, and moved up to #6 in our updated 2024 rankings for Wisconsin.
Minessale caught up with NY2LA Sports to talk about his big summer, update his recruitment and discuss his goals for his Junior Season.
How would you describe yourself as a player? What makes you, you?
“I would describe myself as a player who is always improving and looking for new ways to expand my game. I look to attack downhill and finish at the rim, while also finding my shooters when the defense helps. If the defense tries to take away my threat to drive I can step out and shoot threes. The thing that separates me from other players is the fact that I can guard 1-5.”
How was your grassroots season with Chapman Academy?
“My season with Chapman was amazing. Joe really helped me make a leap from the player I was in the school season to the player I am now. I showed a lot of people what I am capable of, but I still have a lot of work ahead of me.”
What was your main focus for the summer?
“My main focus for the summer was to show colleges that I could compete at the Division 1 stage and to take my game to the next level before my junior year of high school.”
What schools or coaches have you talked with the most lately?
“Most recently I’ve talked with Milwaukee, Green Bay, Eastern Illinois and Northern Michigan.”
Any visits planned?
“I am planning to visit Northern Michigan in late October.”
What are your goals for your Junior season?
“My main goal going into my junior year is to win Greater Metro Conference player of the year. As far as it goes for my team goals, my goal for Marquette is to win conference and make it to state. Right now Marquette is very under the radar but we think we're going to turn a lot of heads this upcoming season.”
Minessale averaged 15 ppg as Junior at Marquette HS and looks primed for a big season this winter.
