It has been a busy several weeks for the recruitment of JR Lukenbill. Over that period, the 6’5” senior wing guard of Burlington High School and Wisconsin Swing has received his first two scholarship offers from division two programs.

Back in September, Concordia St. Paul was the first division two to offer him. Then this past weekend, Northern Michigan also offered him. “It felt great, it was an amazing feeling to see all the work I put in pay off,” Lukenbill said about picking up the pair of scholarship offers.

The offer from Northern Michigan came after a recent visit to the campus on the Michigan upper peninsula. “My visit to Northern Michigan was awesome. I had a lot of fun and felt comfortable right away when I got there. Everyone including the players were welcoming and easy to talk to.”

Speaking about the other school that has offered him, Lukenbill said “I really like the coaches from CSP. They were very nice and seemed like they are building a good thing there.”

There are a few specific things Lukenbill is looking for in his future college and basketball program. “I want to feel comfortable wherever I go to college and have a sense of another family when I’m there. I also want to learn as much as I can on and off the court and do whatever to help improve myself, teammates, and the program.”

Lukenbill is coming off a junior season in which he led his high school team in points, rebounds, and assists, with 16.9, 7.6, and 3.0 per game, respectively. Look for the versatile wing guard to build upon that in his upcoming senior season.
