With the high school season underway, we will be coming to you weekly with 10 things that caught my attention in the previous week of play.

Solomon Garrison – Point Guard - Homestead High School – 2023 – Solomon has been a steady force for the Homestead program for a few seasons now. Last week in 2 victories, the point guard averaged 27.5 PPG, 5 RPG and 4 APG. He also connected on 9 three-point shots.

Amari McCottry - Dual Forward – Thomas More – 2024 – After leading his team to the state tournament last spring, McCottry appears to be back to finish the job. During his team’s 2 wins last week, He averaged 30 PPG, 12.5 RPG and 4.5 APG. Thomas More is my favorite to win the Metro Classic Conference this season.

Landon Key – Small Forward – Wisconsin Lutheran – 2023 – Key goes about his work so unassuming that you look up and are shocked with the production he has. He typically guards the opposing team’s best player. This season he has added some offensive punch to the already powerful Wisco attack. In victories last week, Key averaged 16 PPG, 6 RPG and 4 APG. January 3rd is a date circled on the calendar as that is the first of 2 matchups with Pewaukee.

Riley Brooks – Guard/Forward – Ripon – 2023 – The Northern Michigan recruit had a big
week leading his team to a 2-1 record. Brooks averaged 33 PPG, 11.5 RPG, 5 APG and connected on 13 three-point shots. The 6-6 wing has been doing it all early in the season for his team.

Juan Guererro-Hernandez – Point Guard – Grafton – 2025 – The young floor general is building of an impressive freshman season. In 2 Northshore conference wins last week, He averaged 25, 12 and 4 APG. Juan, forms a nice 1-2 with 2024 Michael McNabb and their presence will propel them near the top of the North Shore conference race.

Takis Tyler – Point Guard – Milwaukee Juneau – 2026 – There’s a bright future brewing over at Milwaukee Juneau and Tyler will be a big part of it. The cat quick point guard has been thrown into the fire right away and is producing at an impressive level. Tyler averaged 19 PPG last week helping the Pioneers to a 1-1 record. He used his attacking mentality to get the free throw line 22 times, converting 18 of them.

Bennett Basich – Shooting Guard – Arrowhead – 2024 – Basich had a big weekend, contributing greatly to victories over Kettle Moraine and Milwaukee Academy of Science. In the 2 games Basich connected on 7 three-pointers and averaged 26 PPG and 10 RPG. Bennett is part of a 3 headed monster at Arrowhead that could have them playing into mid-March.

Marcus Hall – Small Forward – DC Everest – 2023 – Hall had an amazing summer playing with his Wisconsin Swing team and that momentum has carried over into the winter. The 6-6 forward and UWGB recruit scored 30 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 8 assists in the only game for his team last week. Hall is a sleeper Mr. Basketball candidate who has his team off to a 4-1 start early in this season.

Jake Dunham – Small Forward – South Milwaukee – 2023 – Dunham is a smooth wing with a quick release that can get his shot off over defenders. In 2 games last week he averaged 25.5 PPG and connected on 7 three-point shots. His efforts help South Milwaukee to a 1-1 week with a big conference win over Milwaukee Lutheran.

Devin Isaj – Hybrid Guard – Greendale – 2025 – Greendale is off to hot 4-1 start to the season and Isaj is a big reason why. They split their games last week, beating East Troy and losing to Brown Deer. In those 2 games Isaj averaged 28 points per game.
