The NY2LA Classic featured six games at Brookfield Central High School on Saturday. Some of the top teams from Wisconsin were participants. Here are evaluations of the top freshman and sophomores from the day.

Leon Bond – 2022 – SF – Wauwatosa East High School
Athletic slashing 6’5” wing who greatly impressed in the game. Strong driver that was always attacking the basket and finished around the rim often. Tough to defend as he simply glides past defenders off the dribble or uses his toughness to back them down. Just could not be stopped from getting to the basket. Does a good job getting himself into good scoring opportunities going 9-11 on his way to a 25-point performance.

Steven Clay – 2022 – G – Menomonee Falls High School
Lanky athletic wing guard with well-rounded skill set who does so much on both ends of the court. Showed off a pretty shooting stroke hitting jumpers from three and the mid-range. Also showed the ability to get to the basket off the bounce to score 19 points in the game. Also impressed with his energetic play on the defensive end, totaling up six blocks. Such a high skill level for the sophomore.

Nate Forystek – 2022 – PF – Bay Port High School
Good size wide body 6’6” power forward. Scored the ball well in the paint, plus stretched it out shooting from the mid-range. Really battles in the paint on both ends of the court and overpowers defenders. Very efficient performance going 6-7 from the floor and 9-9 from the free throw line on his way to 21 points, in addition to 8 rebounds. Just a sophomore that shows good upside.

Max Nelson – 2022 – PF – Appleton North High School
Talented power forward with good size at 6’8” and plenty of talent. Scores the ball well around the basket and from the perimeter. Came out slow shooting from three, but was able to hit three in the second half with a smooth jumper. Also, able to score it over either shoulder with his back to the basket.  Has good length and moves well for his size. One of the better sophomore forwards in the Midwest.

Seth Trimble – 2022 – PG – Menomonee Falls High School
Highly athletic sophomore point guard. Scored the ball well going to the basket in the half court and transition. Moves well with the basketball to get to the basket often. Bouncy to finish strong at the rim and also showed good body control to also lay in it around the basket. Smart driver who didn’t force anything and moves the ball well too.

Mac Wrecke – 2023 – SF – Arrowhead High School
Freshman that flashed some good ability with limited opportunities. Has size at 6’4” and scored the ball going to the basket. Took it strong all the way to the basket, as well as pulling up in the mid-range to knock down shots.  Has some athletic ability as well.
