After a recent official visit to Michigan Tech, Jameer Barker came away with an offer for himself from the Huskies. Barker is a 6’2” senior guard at Racine St. Catherine’s High School (WI).

Barker is a part of a loaded St. Catherine’s team that also includes Tyrese Hunter and Kamari McGee. With the trio of Barker, Hunter, and McGee, they are off to an undefeated 12-0 start this season. Barker is currently averaging 11.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.

“To get an offer from Michigan Tech was definitely an honor, knowing their success behind the head coach who’s been named coach of the year five times,” Barker commented on his feelings about the recent offer. He added in “one thing I really like about Michigan Tech is that the coaching staff will never lie, sugar coat things, they tell you how it’s going to be,” when speaking about the basketball program.

In addition to his scholarship offer from Michigan Tech, Barker also holds one from Chardon State. As well Carthage, Northern Michigan, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Wisconsin-Whitewater, and several other schools on various levels have expressed interest in him.

As well to being a sought-after basketball player, Barker also has plenty of interest for his ability on the gridiron. While he is undecided on if will be playing basketball or football at the college level, he is planning on making that decision very soon. Another decision Barker is looking to make soon is his future college. He is looking to pick his college when the “time is right,” and wants to have it done by his birthday, March 5th.
