While the 17U first team for this year’s NY2LA Association has a great deal of talent, this second team is no different. The list is loaded with skilled college prospects that all were candidates for the first team list. Here are the seven members voted to the second team for the 2021 NY2LA Association.
Jamil Muttilib – 2022 – G – Team Temple
The lengthy and athletic 6’5” wing guard was one of the top stock boosters throughout the spring and summer. With his play on both sides of the ball, Muttilib was always a huge contributor all season to earn his spot on this second team list. Not only was Muttilib one of the top slashers on the association but also shoots it well from the perimeter plus is a tough and versatile defender.
Marcus Overstreet – 2022 – F/C – IL Jaguars
As one of the most dominant big men on the association all year long, Overstreet battled his way on to this second team list. There were few players that showed the paint scoring ability of Overstreet. At 6’8” with his great strength as well to his motor, he was rarely stopped when he got the ball down low.
Greyson Pritzl – 2022 – G – WI RAP
While not always mentioned among the upper tier players, Pritzl was one of the most consistent performs all spring and summer on the association at the 17U level. The 6’4” guard contributed more to his team than possibly any other player with his ability to score, distribute, and handle the ball. Pritzl is an elite scorer that shoots the ball well from deep but also attacks the basket hard and is a good decision maker with the ball.
Brady Ruggles – 2022 – G – Mercury Elite
The 6’6” two guard was one of the top scorers throughout the year on the association. He’s a very consistent shooter with great form on his jumper who can also play off the dribble. Not only a shooter, but he’s also a high IQ player that has shown good decision making and passing ability. No matter the competition this year, Ruggles came to play and consistently scored the ball at an elite level. Following the summer season, he earned himself offers from Florida Southern and Trevecca Nazarene.
Montez Taylor – 2022 – G – Dreams Become Reality
Out of Arizona, Taylor was one of the top point guards on the association. He shined in multiple tournaments over the year, especially during a highly impressive run to the final four at the Grassroots Summer Championships in Orlando to finish the season. He’s a dynamic playmaker with elite handle and quickness that was one of toughest players to defend with the ball. He has a great ability to get to the basket but just as easily pull up and knock down shots.
Marcus Tomashek – 2022 – G – JH1 Elite
One of the biggest breakout stars to start the association this spring who just continued to grow his game from there. Tomashek is a knockdown shooter from the perimeter in addition to being able to create his own shot in the mid-range and get to the rim. He teamed up with first teamer Leon Bond to help JH1 Elite have a highly successful season this year on the association. Over the past few months, he has received offers from Hillsdale College, Minot State, St. Leo, and Wisconsin-Parkside.
Max Weisbrod – 2022 – G – WI Swing
Weisbrod continuously showed the ability to be one of the more impactful guards who always made a big impact on both ends, playing some of his best basketball in July to help his Swing team have an impressive run this summer. He is a heady combo guard that excels at both scoring and distributing the ball. The guard will be headed to Northern Michigan University next year as he recently committed to the Division 2 program.
