It’s been a long wait for the high school season, but it is finally upon us. The 2023 class in Wisconsin has tremendous depth and plenty of quality prospects. While there are already some elite players, here are some that are ready to take the next step in their basketball careers and be prominent players in this upcoming high school season. 

Tyran Cook – 2023 – Waukesha South HS – G 

Cook has had a very good start to his high school career and could become one of the better players in the entire state this season. He is a physical and athletic guard that excels going strong to the bucket to score in bunches. Cook can beat defenders with his strength as well as his quickness or moves with the ball. Cook really battles on the floor and is a tough and aggressive defender with energetic play.  

Finley Deischer – 2023 – Verona Area HS – PG

A very skilled guard that has only continued to improve and shown a lot of game with Wisconsin Dynasty. While he may not have great size or strength there are plenty of other things to like about his game. He is a high IQ guard that is a quality playmaker with the ball in his hands. Deischer is a very good shot maker from the perimeter but can also get to the basket as well as create for others. 

Simeon Murchison – 2023 – Bay View HS – F/C

Murchison is a strong and aggressive 6’9” big man that is just scratching the surface of his potential. He is dominant in the paint on both ends with his ability to finish everything strong at the rim as well as being a good rim protector. As well, his ability to play on the perimeter and hit jumpers or makes plays off the dribble have continued to progress. He has all the tools to be a dominant big man this upcoming season and his recruitment is bound to explode. 

Matthew Schmainda – 2023 – Brookfield East HS – G

A high IQ and physical guard that makes winning plays. He shoots it extremely well from the outside but can also make plays off the dribble. He is very smart with the ball in his hands knowing where to go with it and create well for teammates. Schmainda also plays very well on the other end defending the ball on the perimeter with his energy and agility. 

Will Starks – 2023 – Kenosha Tremper HS – SF

The junior is a very versatile wing forward that can do a bit of everything and had a good year with World Hoops Elite. His perimeter skills have continued to increase with his ability to consistently hit threes and attack the basket well. Though the 6’4” forward can also play strong down inside scoring it tough inside as well as rebounding the ball at a high rate. Starks is an aggressive player that is poised for a big season with his development.
