Over the past weekend one of the top available seniors in all of Wisconsin, LJ Wells picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Toledo. Wells is a 6’8” forward at Eau Claire Memorial High School.
Previously, Wells had held trio of offers from division two programs. Minot State, St. Cloud State, and University of Mary had all extended offers to the forward. The offer from Toledo is his first from a division one program. He also has interest from several division one and two programs from around the region.
"It feels really good knowing that the investments my teammates, coaches, and work I continue to put in are showing results," Wells said about receiving the Toledo offer. A couple things that Wells already likes about Toledo is their culture and coaching staff.
Standing at 6’8” with his athleticism, strength, and skills, Wells is a highly intriguing forward with tremendous upside. He has a great ability to impact the game in a variety of ways. A versatile defender with all his tools that can match up with wings as well as big men. Wells has continued to add to his offensive ability as he can score by putting the ball on the floor, around the paint, and improved jumper. Wells has plenty of tools to step into a division one or two program next season and make an immediate impact.
Right now, Wells is fully focused on his current high school season. "I appreciate the offers I've received, and I'm currently focused on finishing the season strong with my teammates," Wells said when talking about any type of commitment timeline.
This season at Eau Claire Memorial, Wells is averaging a well-balanced stat line of 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 1.9 steals per game to help Eau Claire Memorial out to a 17-4 record currently.
