Cuba City High School (WI) has been having a tremendous season with a 21-2 record for the year and a large reason for that has been the play of Max Lucey. The 6’4” junior combo guard is second on the team in scoring with 14.6 points a game as well to leading the team in rebounds with 5.8 all in addition to 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

“I’m a combo guard that can do a little bit of everything. Strongest part of my game is my three-point shot but I can also attack and facilitate,” Lucey said to describe his game. An aspect of his game that the junior would like to improve upon is being able to affect the game even when he is not scoring and improving “all the little things.”

Between his strong play with Cuba City as well as the Wisconsin Swing program last spring and summer, Hurley has started to attract the interest from several college programs. Bemidji State, Minnesota State-Moorhead, University of Mary, and Winona State are some of the schools recruiting Lucey currently.

While he is more than a year out from college, there are a few things he is looking for in his future basketball program. “I just want to go to a program that wants me and would love to play for a program with a great team atmosphere,” Lucey said.

Lucey has deep playoff aspirations for the rest of his season. “Make it to state and try to bring home a gold ball.”
