Demarion Burch has been one of the biggest stock boosters in the Midwest over the last 6 months. After losing his sophomore season to Covid, Burch averaged 29.7 points as a Junior last winter for Milwaukee Hamilton HS, and was named a first team all-state selection by WBCA in Division 1. Still, he entered his final grassroots season without a division one offer. That changed this summer as Burch picked up offers from UW-Milwaukee, Valparaiso, Nebraska-Omaha, Robert Morris, North Carolina A&T and Bradley.

Burch caught up with NY2LA Sports to give the latest update on his recruitment, discuss his big summer with Team Haliburton and his goals for his senior season.

How was your last grassroots season playing with Team Haliburton on the NY2LA Circuit?

“It was great for me. Going into the season it was just about killing and winning for me. I knew that I was low on all the rankings in the state of Wisconsin, so I just wanted to prove that I really belong.”

This summer you blew up and got a bunch of D1 offers, describe that experience.

“It was a blessing. Just a dream come true because that's every kid's dream to become a division one athlete. So for me to be one of those kids just makes me feel special.”

What schools or coaches are you talking to the most right now?

“I talk to all the schools the same.”

Are there any new schools that haven’t offered that you are talking to?

“Yes, Murray State, Green Bay, and Drake University.”

How would you describe yourself? What makes you, you?

"I'm one of one. Thats the reason why I wear the number 11. In my eyes I'm a GOAT. I'm just super confident in myself."

What are your goals for your senior season?

“To go to state, that's my only goal.”

Burch made one of the biggest jumps in our updated rankings in the class of 2023 and is now the #2 prospect in Wisconsin, only behind Iowa State commit Milan Momcilovic.
